 AKVAir - Geo Accumulator Tank

The AKVAir Geo is available from 300-5000 litres, and is 3 bar pressure rated as standard. The tank is designed specifically for heat pump input, and therefore comes with more connections than any other tank model. 

It is divided by a baffle plate with approximately 60% below and 40% above the baffle. 

The standard AKVAir Geo tank has 2 coils for domestic hot water.  The AKVAir Geo is also available as a 3-coil Geo Solar and 4-coil Geo Solar Plus model.

 

All coils are permanently fitted and not removable as in the AKVA, AKVASAN and AKVANTTI tanks.

 

The pre-heat DHW coil is positioned vertically in the lower part of the tank, connected for upwards flow. The secondary DHW coil is located above the baffle plate, for connection in series from the lower coil.  A thermostatic mixing valve can be installed between the upper and lower DHW coils if desired to reduce flow through the top coil.  A thermostatic mixing valve is required in all cases after the top DHW coil.

 

In the case of the Geo Solar tanks, the solar coil is positioned vertically in the lower part of the tank alongside the pre-heat DHW coil. The solar coil is connected for downwards flow.

 

The second solar coil in a Geo Solar Plus tank is located above the baffle plate.  As with the Solar Plus tanks, the solar coils are for connection to the solar array via a diverting valve to divert flow through top and bottom coil in series, or through the lower coil only according to tank temperatures. The Geo Solar Plus models are also supplied with a solar diverting valve (currently an Esbe VTD322) and a thermostatic mixing valve combination set for regulating flow temperature to DHW. 

 


Automatic boilers, whether gas, oil, wood chip or wood pellet, are connected across the top and mid point of the tank. Batch fed boilers and stoves should be connected top and bottom to provide the full buffer volume of the tank.

Heating circuits are normally supplied from the top and mid-point, returning to the bottom of the tank.  Flow temperature to heating can be regulated by a 3 port blending valve or, where flow is taken from both the top and mid-point connections, a 4 port bivalent valve, using a Thermomatic CC or EC Home controller.

Akvatermís Geo range of tanks are designed to maximise the input from heat pumps, making it available for both heating and DHW.  The Geo Solar and Geo Solar Plus ranges also allow for highly efficient solar thermal input alongside your heatpump.

Geo Solar tanks would have 1x Solar Coil and 2 x DHW coils, and Geo Solar Plus tanks would have 2 x Solar coils and 2 x DHW coils.
The first Solar coil is 12.2m of 18mm finned copper, and the second 6m of 18mm finned copper.
